The plan to relocate the national capital (IKN) has been determined since August 26, 2019. The exact location of IKN is in Penajam Paser Utara Regency (PPU) and parts of Kutai Kartanegara Regency. With this plan, the government also moved quickly by passing Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning IKN on February 15, 2022. This policy adds to the long line of laws passed by the government without any favor to Indigenous Peoples because it does not involve the active role of Indigenous Peoples in the discussion.
