OFRANEH

The Honduran Black Fraternal Organization, OFRANEH, emerged in 1978 as a Federation of the Garífuna people of Honduras, blending into the defense of their cultural and territorial rights, with the purpose of achieving survival as a differentiated culture. OFRANEH was the first grassroots organization of the indigenous peoples of Honduras, dedicated to addressing the immediate needs of our people. Currently we are defending our ancestral territory, which is affected by territorial pressures from tourism and African palm entrepreneurs, in addition to the colonization fronts promoted by the state of Honduras.
