The Ashaninka do Rio Amônia Association – Apiwtxa (a term that means union) was created in 1991 as a strategy to strengthen our community. It works as an operational arm of the community so that we can manage our projects and articulate ourselves from a social and political point of view. It is through the Apiwtxa Association that we, Ashaninka do Rio Amônia, carry out our projects, which aim at the well-being of our community and the communities surrounding our land.
