1,256 million people live in Africa and in 2050 it is expected that the population will double. The projected growth of Africa's child population, 750 million in 2030, will require an additional 10 million professionals in the education and health systems over the next decade to sustain the pace of demographic transition the country is going through, according to UNICEF.
